Pursuant to prior discussions with the membership, the Board of the Interactive Gaming Council (IGC) at its July 15, 1998 meeting decided to initiate an immediate search for an Executive Director to manage the affairs of the IGC.

The Executive Director will carry out his/her duties under the direction of the Board. This notice constitutes a request for your recommendations, leads, and or proposals to fill this important position.

An ideal candidate would possess the following traits: diligent, articulate, intelligent, personable, discreet, relentless, educated, persuasive and trustworthy. Experience in gaming, Internet, and/or non-profit administration helpful but not essential.

It is the Board's objective to fill this position as soon as possible. Salary and benefits are negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Executive Director

Job Purpose:

Promotes and serves the interest of IGC members

Reports to:

Chair/Board of the IGC

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Provides member services by establishing and improving a functional structure; enforcing Board decisions; developing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures, providing periodic updates to the membership on matters of interest and maintaining an effective and informative IGC web site.

Promotes membership by explaining benefits in writing or through personal appearances; developing literature and audiovisual presentations; contacting potential or delinquent members.

Establishes policy with Board of Directors by identifying short-term and long-range issues to be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to the Board's deliberations; presenting options and recommending courses of action.

Keeps the Board of Directors informed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; remaining accessible; answering questions and requests.

Identifies current and future member interests and needs by establishing personal rapport with actual and potential members and other persons in a position to understand member requirements and trends in the online gaming industry.

Recommends programs and services by studying the changing needs of the membership; identifying and anticipating industry trends and legal issues relevant to the membership; evaluating and offering options to the Board.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending industry meetings, reviewing related professional publications and establishing personal networks.

Represents the IGC to the public by authoring news releases; performing interviews with media personnel; responding to questions raised by the public. These tasks are to be performed in concert with the IGC Chair and Board.

Achieves financial objectives by developing and recommending the IGC's budget monitoring and revising the budget as necessary; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; anticipating long-term issues.

Maintains IGC staff/job results by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees and coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning monitoring and appraising job results. This is a future consideration when and if the IGC grows sufficiently to warrant the expansion of a staff.

Maintain contractor agreements by monitoring the performance of such contractors and taking corrective steps as necessary.
