The following are reportedly the 3 major US problem gambling certification bodies:
  1. American Compulsive Gambling Counselor Certification Board
  2. American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders: - a national and international accrediting body with Certified Addiction Specialists (CAS) worldwide
  3. National Gambling Counselor Certification Board

An interesting site is the School Stuff site, a site developed in Queensland (Australia) and designed as a part of the Queensland School Curriculum Council responsible gambling modules. School Stuff is an interactive Internet site designed for young people to investigate issues associated with gambling. The Indiana University, Center for Urban Policy and Environment report to the Governor on the Social, Fiscal and Economic Impacts of Legalized Gambling in Indiana (1999) provides a table comparing gambling treatment certification programs. This can be found at:

The WAGER is a weekly research bulletin published by the Division on Addictions at Harvard Medical School in collaboration with the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling. The WAGER is made possible through the support of the National Center for Responsible Gaming and the New England Addiction Technology Transfer Center.


The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health has an electronic journal of gambling issues. CAMH is a public hospital providing direct patient care for people with mental health and addiction problems. The Centre is also a research facility, an education and training institute and a community based organization providing health promotion and prevention services across the province of Ontario, Canada, and is designated as a World Health Organization Centre of Excellence.
